What is the difference between laptops and netbooks?

So what is the difference between laptops and netbooks? A laptop computer (also called notebooks) is the computer that is designed to be portable, equipped with a hinged screen keyboard. A portable computer includes a battery power laptop and a touchpad instead of a mouse for input.

mini laptops (also called a subnotebook netbook, ultraportable or) to take these ideas even further, creating a new market on handheld computers, smart phones and personaldigital assistants. The primary characteristic of these are smaller size and weight, which are quite similar to the diary media, as well as cheaper than a standard laptop with prices starting at about € 150, an excellent solution during the credit crunch!

mini laptops are not as powerful as larger laptops, and lack of power for large, demanding programs, as well as an optical disc drive - so no CD or DVD. However, connectivity is a centralattention to the netbook. Internet downloads are quickly catching up to hard media products, so maybe not such a loss.

In short, the difference between laptop and netbook a netbook is smaller, lighter, cheaper (overall) and the simplest.

new mini laptops are required to sell in the region of 5.2 million units by the end of 2008, 8 million in 2009 and up to 50 million by 2012 - an increase tenfold. Industry analysts are torn or subnotebook will be lesscannibalizing the notebook market, some suggest that a 10% market share will be easy to take. However, in this economic crisis, people will always look for cheaper products and mini-laptops available from £ 150-200, maybe there's a big market after all.

So it's game over for the standard laptop and PC? Unlikely, mini laptops, while dozens of tasks you can perform the same or similar standards of larger computers, they (for now)be limited by the size of the battery, processing power and storage space, the difference between laptop is not pronounced enough to make obsolete the previous year.

In addition, when using a computer for an extended period of time, it would be appropriate to use a larger screen and a faster processor than a laptop or a desktop replacement PC, particularly for the more demanding programs' such as games.

And finally, but similarly priced laptops, of varying quality, areavailable for around € 200-300 leading some industry analysts believe that consumers' attention will be on features and not just the size and weight.

At the opposite end of the spectrum, mobile phone manufacturers and suppliers are tapping into the netbook market with the Samsung NC10, X110 and LG launch of the Carphone Warehouse Webbook - a laptop brand made by Elonex. Vodafone has linked arms with Dell with its Inspiron Mini 9, which offers 3G mobile broadband contracts.Orange followed the example and to ingratiate himself with Asus Eee PC 901.

The difference between laptop and netbook may sound very vague, but there's definitely room for both functions. If you have a laptop, even reading this on one, lift it up. Feel the weight of it. Ask yourself, I need all this space? I'd be better off with something smaller and lighter - If the answers yes, browse through the site.
